What warming up can and cannot do

An honest scope for account warm-up: the problems it genuinely addresses, and the ones it has no effect on at all.
Warm-up is narrower than most descriptions of it suggest. Being precise about the scope makes it more useful, because you stop expecting it to fix things it was never going to fix.
What it genuinely addresses
- An empty interest profile. This is the core one. Hours of watching and liking inside one niche give the recommendation system something to categorise the account with before it ever posts.
- The suspiciously abrupt account. An account created and immediately posting at volume is an unusual pattern. One that browses for a while first is an ordinary one.
- An empty follow graph. Following relevant creators gives another signal about what the account is about, and makes the profile look like a real person's.
What it does not affect
- Content quality. A warm account posting weak clips gets weak results, faster. Warm-up changes distribution conditions, not the clip.
- Existing restrictions. If an account is already limited, warming it up does not lift that. Resolve the restriction first.
- Ban risk in general. This is the one people get backwards. Warm-up is itself automation, and automation carries risk. A careful warm-up reduces the risk relative to hammering a cold account — it does not produce an account that is safe to abuse afterwards.
- Niche changes later. An account warmed for one niche that then posts about something unrelated has a profile actively working against it.
Choosing the niche properly
The single highest-leverage decision is the niche, because the whole run is spent building a profile around it. It should match what you will actually post, and it should be specific enough to be meaningful — “football” is a weaker target than “Premier League match reactions”.
A reasonable expectation
Warming up moves the starting conditions from “the system knows nothing” to “the system has a working guess”. That is worth having, and it is not a growth strategy on its own. Anyone promising specific view counts from a warm-up is describing an outcome they cannot control.
